WHAT IS THE GUILD? The Baden-Powell Guild is an adult fellowship of former Scouts and Guides and other interested persons inspired with the ideal of maintaining the Scout and Guide “Spirit” in everyday life, and of promoting international understanding through identity of purpose and interest. HOW IS THE GUILD RELATED TO SCOUTING? The Guild enjoys close links with the Scout Association, but is financially and administratively independent if it. It does not seek to compete with the Association for members, but only to conserve - for the continuing benefit of the Movement - the talents of those who find themselves unable to contribute sufficient time to satisfactory discharge their responsibilities as active members of the Association. IS THE GUILD PURELY AUSTRALIAN? No. Like the Scout and Guide Movements, it is worldwide. More than 30 countries and affiliated with the International Fellowship of Former Scouts and Guides. Back to top G jsufhgwedhjsufhgwedh
WHAT ARE THE OBJECTS OF THE GUILD? 1. To keep alive among its members the spirit of the “Scout and Guide Law and Promise”. 2. To carry that spirit into the Communities in which its members live. 3. To support, as far as practical, Scouting and Guiding in their Communities. Back to top G
HOW DOES THE GUILD OPERATE? Ideally, through Branches comprised of sufficient members to ensure development into a viable and cohesive unit. However, members living in areas remote from a Guild Branch can still make an effective contribution by their self-motivated endeavours.
Branches are affiliated with the State Guild which is, in turn, a member of the Australian Guild.
Prospective members are free to seek admission to the Branch of their choice. Back to top G
IS THE GUILD PRACTICAL? Yes. Through regular association with other adults in the Guilds, the opportunity is created for practical expression of the Scouting and Guilding “Good Turn” in the form of both useful citizenship within the Community, and service to the Scout and Guide Movements.
